The Pasquotank County Rescue Squad was established in 1964. We respond to more than 3,600 calls annually, and provides service to well over 56,768 people in an area of 472 square miles. The Rescue Squad operates out a central station located on US Highway 17 North behind Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City. We operate in conjunction with the Pasquotank Camden Ambulance Service, which is a paid serive operating from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Saturday, the Rescue Squad responds to calls primarilly from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM every day and 24 hours on Sunday. We also respond when needed during the Ambulance Service's regular hours. We are dispatched by the Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications.

The Rescue Squad is licensed by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and consist of volunteer professionals varying in level of certification from Medical Responders to EMT-Paramedic.

The Rescue Squad's business meetings are held at the station on the first Wednesday of every month.

The Rescue Squad is lead by its Operational Officers (Chief, Asst. Chief, Captain, First Leiutenant, and 2 Second Leiutenants) and Governed by the Administrative Officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) who are responsible for making decisions withing the confines of their position, as laid out by the rescue squad bylaws. Operational Officers are also responsible for the daily operations of the ambulances and crews. All positions are voted on by the general membership annually.
